The Water to Water (W2W) project in Kenya was aimed to develop and demonstrate an innovative zero-emission energy generation and storage system for use at the micro and mini grid scale in Kenya and eventually in the SSA region. The report discussed the opportunities available for women, youth and persons with disability in the DRE sector, identifies the barriers that hinder their full participation in the sector, and makes some recommendations that could help overcome these barriers .WISEe was consulted by Strathmore Energy Research Centre (SERC), to handle the Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) component.

WISEe was consulted by Africa Enterprise Challenge Fund (AECF), to develop policy briefs in GESI. Through wide consultations with a range of stakeholders. Meetings were held with the client, African Enterprise Challenge Fund (AECF) team to define the scope of the Policy brief and to facilitate the policy development process. Key informants Interview (KII) were conducted with energy sector professionals which included national and county government officials working in their respective energy domains, development partners in the sector, private sector players and academia. In total, 32 key informants were interviewed, with 64 % of them being men and 36 % being women, between November 2022 and February 2023 The analysis was based on a review of 26 policy documents and interviews. (iii) ADESFA

The project is part of the component 2 – Structuring of the ADESFA call by proposing a technical support and a reinforcement of the capacities and competencies of the University of Strathmore on two parts:

MAIN COMPONENT – ELECTRICAL: matching the skills of their trainers, the available equipment and the need to acquire professional knowledge in electrical risk management through a professionalizing teaching kit making it possible to access the currently hindered major professional knowledge for the professional insertion of their graduates in Electrical Engineering.

COMPLEMENTARY COMPONENT – INTERNATIONALIZATION: organization of workshops for reflection and mutualization in the institutional organization of internationalization practices and processes and in the conduct and implementation of its internationalization strategy.

WISEe was consulted by Strathmore School of Engineering to:
Reinforce SU skills to allow access to practical activities essential to the professionalization of students.  Implementation of a pedagogical kit (pedagogical content translated into English, training periods, practical support developed, remote monitoring of the use of the pedagogical kit by the trainers).  Strengthen skills and knowledge management in the institutional organization of SU’s and UPHF’s internationalization practices and processes, as well as their mutualisation.  Organize workshops for those responsible for implementing SU’s internationalization strategy.
