In 2022 and 2023, 21 solar suitcases were installed in the marginalised areas of Tharaka -Nithi county in 10 schools including, Mwitu Muthitwa Sec School, Tunyai Children’s Home,Tunyai Pry Sch, Kabuabua Girls Sec,Ntoroni Sec Sch, Mukothima Day sec sch, Iriani Sec sch,  Holy Family Pry Boarding,Karocho Sec Sch, Karocho Pry Sch, benefitting over 4000 students with lighting power. Tharaka is a semi-arid area and heat snakes tend to crawl around at night endangering the lives of the children who walk from classes to the dorms or lavatories with low or no light. The solar suitcases are very helpful to the children as they provide light thus the children feel more safe.
